India defeated England in the final of the ICC Women's U-19 T20 World Cup on Sunday. India lost Shafali Verman and Shweta Sehrawat early while chasing a paltry 69. But G Trisha and Soumya Tiwari forged a strong partnership to guide India home.

India beat England by a narrow 68 after England's batting faltered again in the ball game. Titas Sadhu did the damage early and caught an in-form Liberty Heap in the first over and spinner Archana Devi also bowled well and hurt England early. Other bowlers made regular hits as England's batting line-up had no answers.

Soumya Tiwari takes the win and India are champions of the inaugural ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup. Shafali and the rest of his players run to the middle and celebrate. There are also some teary-eyed players. India Women U19 won 7. PM Narendra Modi, Ajay Devgn, Anushka Sharma, Abhishek Bachchan and others congratulate the team.
